Who has the bloody time to go work for a ‘beach body’? Not me. In the spirit of celebrating what flab excess I have carrying with me, trips to an Island getaway has always positioned me in between guilt and absolute shamelessness in flaunting what I (dont)have.

Fashion magazines and FB timeline feeds are cluttered with influencer-ridden photos of their escapes (really pictures of their bodies in an itsy bitsy bikini, but hey, kudos to that hard work!) and articles suggesting that I should be on a diet ala Gisele Bundchen Brady; who has the most torturous diet routine I have ever heard just for the sake of flaunting your summer body is a given! Not giving up on myself and semi-submitting to my pursuit of just beautiful photos, I was not ready to give up on my frame and just go with it!

Here’s my take on body-friendly summer looks that hides and flaunts what you have with you 🙂

  1. Sarong Style

Carribbean style has always created a strong impression on how I dress up for an Island getaway. A sarong is a must-have piece, wear with a cropped top and show off a bit of your skin and of course a must-have straw hat. 🙂 Keep the color tones to a cray!

2. Razzle Tassel

Fringes, tassels – you name it, I have it. Keep it in pristine whites to go for the perfect summer look.

3. Pom Pom Frenzy

From Greeze to India to Langkawi, why stick with nautical blues when you can spice it up with colors, beads, embellishments and tonnes of pom poms?

I wore a tunic I got from Penang’s Little India and pom-pom glads from Greece, then topped off with an Indian sling bag from a Langkawi shop in Cenang for the kicker.

4. White Lace Combo

Or go for a mix of whites/lace and tassels to go the distance? Why shouldn’t I. To avoid indecent exposure, I settle with a wearing a bandeau underneath an off-shoulder top.

5. White Out

The Bohemian kind, criss-cross shirt top worn over white pants. Fancy some glitteing pool sliders than the usual Havaianas flip flops 🙂

6. Crochet, No Shame

Simply because. There is something care-free about crocheted tops; a Coachella favorite no-less, but worn with the right shorts, and perhaps can add on a cowboy hat for a distinctively LA mood.IMG_5016 IMG_5021

Should this be on your new commandment of style at the beach? Keep it colorful!
