There is something special about pre-loved items.

I started buying thrift store clothes way back in ‘o6. What originally started as a method of saving up money to own something different, now has become a full-fledged hobby that I take alot of my time on both overseas and in Malaysia.

Buying second-hand clothes is hardly something to be ashamed of. For me, owning a piece (be it a designer label or not) is kind of like an inheritance of taste – and it reflects and define what your style is about to!

For KLFW RTW 2016, I was given the exciting opportunity to play dress-up with some pre-loved designer labels used to be worn (and some never been!) by some of Malaysia’s socialites. Now, surely one may feel a little perturbed on the idea of wearing someone’s ‘hand-me-downs’ but I beg to differ.

Not just your Diors and Chanels, but exotic labesl like Sass and Bide, Theory, Alaia and tonnes more are available at Portluxe’s archive; and you can imagine how I was like a kid in the candy store when I was invited to play mix and match with the pieces in Portluxe’s boutique.

I decided to put on a neon show (because really, why play it safe with the available prestigious labels that you have in your perimeter?!) on my second day of shows; wearing a neon green Sass and Bide tailcoat blazer, striped pink Herve Leger bandage dress and Dior’s Lady Dior bag to match.

On my second day, I took a more playful approach with the textures of this tiered tulle skirt by BCBG Max Azria, Vivienne Westwood Red Label jacket and Jimmy Choo clutch to go.

You know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and in this case the pieces available at Portluxe are priceless troves of designer labels selected, appreciated and honored once more when the next person comes in and make the best of it! My advice is to adopt a fun approach in styling the pieces; afterall, they’re limited pieces and would only do justice when you make the best of it!

If you’re looking to score a piece on what I am wearing or more, head over to and key in HYKLFW as you purchase your selected item and you’re entitled to get 20% off! It only stands until the 31st so maybe this is a great idea to start turning that wish list into a transaction!
